Tokyo, Aug 4, 2006 - (JCN) - Pfizer Japan Inc. has obtained manufacturing approval of Gabapentin on July 26. Gabapentin can be taken in conjunction with other drugs. Since it does not induce drug- metabolizing enzymes, it has proven to be safely taken with other drugs.
Gabapentin is known by product name Neurontin abroad, and is distributed in 91 countries worldwide.
70% of the patients in Japan can control their disease by taking the conventional drug; however 30% suffers from intractable epilepsy that requires multiple drug treatments.
