Chain Drug Review - Ivax unveils Gabapentin tablets
MIAMI — Ivax Corp. is marketing generic Neurontin (gabapentin) in 100-, 300- and 400-mg tablets.
The drug, indicated for the treatment of partial seizures, received approval from the Food and Drug Administration earlier this year as the first generic gabapentin on the market.
Besides having 180-day exclusivity for the tablets in those three strengths, Ivax has tentative approval from the FDA for a capsule version in those dosages and plans to begin selling the capsules upon the expiration of an exclusivity period now held by Alpharma Inc.
